Change

This is something that I normally don't have a hard time with. So, it's foreign to me when I feel like I don't want things to change. I typically love change: I change our furniture around quite a bit, I love going new places, I can't stand eating at the same restaurants all the time, I like to travel and experience new places, I don't like wearing the same outfit more than twice(I wear different combinations of the same pieces), etc.
But with Micah it's different. I find myself every day wishing he'd never grow up and that he'd stay my little innocent baby forever. Don't get me wrong, I love each new stage he's in and I want to see him grow and prosper and achieve in his life. But for whatever reason, I'm not just sitting here wishing for the next stage of life like I usually am. I am always looking forward to the next thing I get to do and I think sometimes it's to my detriment because I might miss out on the present or just spend the present wishing for the future. Maybe this is God's way of letting me be fully present in Micah's life and not just wish for the next stage.
Either way, it's a weird feeling for me and I've been very emotional about it lately. When someone even brings up him crawling eventually or starting cereal in a few weeks, or whatever the next stage is, I get teary!
I just want to be in the present and experience every single thing with my son while I can because they truly do grow up so fast.
Does anyone else resonate with me here?

Baby Dedication

Micah was dedicated on Sunday, April 6th at church. Three times a year at Traders Point we have a Baby Dedication day so that the families who have babies every couple of months can dedicate them to God and to teaching their children to love the Lord. This time was unique for me for two reasons. One is the obvious, because my son was dedicated. The other reason is because of the job transition I've had since having Micah, I am now in charge of this event. I never have been before and to be honest I really didn't know what went into getting it together. My coworker Pam was in charge before and did a very good job. I enjoyed putting this event together and I also did a little introduction at the beginning.
Neil and I view raising Micah to be a Godly man of utmost importance. It's a job we don't take lightly.

Great Grandma Ray here for the weekend to celebrate with us.

Indy shaking the bed?

So, this morning the weirdest thing happened, we had an earthquake! It was 5:39am this morning and we were all fast asleep in bed. All the sudden Neil and I were both awakened to the bed shaking. My first thought was that it was Indy shaking or scratching and it was moving our bed because she sleeps down on the floor at the foot of our bed. I called her and she got up and it was still shaking. We both jumped out of bed to try to figure out what it was. Then I thought maybe it was the wind cause we had windows open last night. But then I realized it was too strong for that. We went and checked on Micah who was still asleep and did not wake up at all! So, we decided to go back to bed. Neil said, "It might have been an earthquake tremor". I said "No, we don't have those here." He said "There was one in IL when I was a kid, so it could have been." I highly doubted it but we went back to bed and tried to sleep. Then when I got up this morning I turned on the news and sure enough, it was a 5.2 magnitude earthquake with the Epicenter in West Salem, IL. I think it was felt for miles, mostly in IL and IN. I don't ever remember feeling an earthquake before so it was kinda freaky. I think it's funny that Micah is 4 months old and he's already seen dolphins in the ocean and experienced an earthquake. Some people never experience those things in their lifetime. :)

Panama City Student Trip

I am really bad about taking pics on trips like this cause typically you're so busy you forget your camera. So sorry I don't have tons of pics of the students! I'm not usually a sponsor anyway, so I didn't know a lot of them to start with.

This is how I had to take Micah to the beach cause my stroller wouldn't work on the sand of course!

Our team during the scavenger hunt, we had to make the "giant man" play basketball and take a pic.
Micah in his stroller in the big boy part, he loved it even though the straps totally swallow him up. This is also currently his favorite toy that Grandma got him on our week with them.

Our team with a random stranger in the middle of the group for an album cover picture(the lady with the white hair is the stranger).

Today is not April 9th, it is Sunday, April 13th!

nursery

Today was Micah's first day at the nursery at church. It went really well, he didn't cry at all or anything! I wasn't even really nervous to leave him because I know most of the volunteers and because since I work in that area, I could check on him occasionally. It was nice to actually worship today without being a little distracted, although I really like to have him in there with me also to worship with him and praise God for creating him!
It just seems so crazy that he's already old enough to be in the nursery(even though we take them as soon as parents want to leave them, old enough in my book is now). I am so thankful for a great church body that volunteers to help with our kids to teach them about Christ but also allows parents to be able to worship. I unfortunetly forgot to take any pics today, but maybe next week.

Dr.'s Appt. today

Today Micah had his 4 month check-up and shots. No fun, but he does really well considering. Neil had the day off which was nice so we all went together. Micah weighs 13 lbs. 14 oz.! I can't believe that, he's almost 14 pounds already! He is 25 inches long too, which is the 50th percentile. We gave Micah some tylenol before he got shots and then he slept quite a bit this afternoon and evening. He was a little fussy earlier but then went to sleep at 8 so I think he was just tired and not feeling the greatest.

After getting back from our trips we moved Micah to his crib finally in his bedroom. We were ready(I use that term loosely) to move him a few weeks ago but then figured since we knew he'd be in his pack n' play for 2 weeks while we were gone we wouldn't change things too much on him so we just let him stay there for a few more weeks. So, we just said that after we got back he would sleep in his crib. Saturday night was the first night and he's been doing great! I actually think he sleeps better in there, he doesn't wake up at all lately in the night now so that's good. I do miss him though, it's a sad step as a mom to let your baby go to his own room. Just the first of many steps in letting go. I know that through all that I can rely on the Lord to give me strength each time I need to make another step.

Well, on that sappy note, I'm going to go to bed...

Some older pics that I hadn't posted yet...

Daddy has such good pic ideas!
