Sorry I haven't blogged in so long, I am just so busy all the time that I have a hard time finding time to blog. Life with two kids is always busy and with working and holidays and trying to get some sleep, being on the computer is like the last thing on my list.
I am just going to blog real quick about my birth experience before I forget it totally since it's already been almost 3 months next week!
I kind of expected everything to go the same this time as it did with Micah's birth. I knew it wouldn't but that's all I had to go on. I didn't really have very many signs of labor before the two weeks before my due date and was getting really uncomfortable. Things were so hard to do with a two year old and a big belly! The first weekend in Oct, we went to a pumpkin patch with some friends and took a hayride. Thank goodness for that! The bouncing I think helped me to drop, I could totally tell a difference after that. So, since that was one of the first signs I had with Micah, I figured I'd go into labor on my own shortly after that, within a couple of days. I had been checked the week before and was at a 3 already. Also, they say the second one comes quicker so I was preparing myself and really hyping myself up for it to be soon. Well, the next day was Sunday and I started having some contractions pretty regularly. I had had them off and on for several days but they weren't getting any stronger and I had no other signs of labor. Since I had dropped and was having the contractions again, I decided that maybe we should call and just get monitored for a while. So we went in to the hospital, our good friends Matt and Kelly stayed at our house with Micah while he was sleeping since it was like 9:30pm. I figured they wouldn't have us stay cause the contractions weren't that bad, but I was hoping that since I was 37 weeks they would just go ahead and maybe start me on pitossin and all that to get things going, I was SOO ready! Well, they checked me and I hadn't dilated any more and the contractions were there but just not strong so they had me walk for a couple of hours. After doing that for like an hour, I decided I was exhausted and just wanted to go back home, since there weren't any changes. So, we came back home even though I was totally hoping to have stayed cause I wanted to meet this baby and find out the sex SOO bad! That was the only bad thing about not knowing the sex was that I was so impatient towards the end. By the way, I was convinced it was a boy because I carried very similar to Micah and I thought since Neil knew the whole time that he wouldn't have been able to keep a secret if it was a girl.
So, after two more days of nothing, I called the Dr. and asked to be induced. We set it up for Wed. Oct. 7th at 6am. Neil's mom came Tuesday morning and was staying to watch Micah for us while we were in the hospital. I was so excited and couldn't wait to meet our little baby! After getting checked in and everything, they started me on pitossin around 7:15am which I was nervous about because I was afraid the labor would be so much worse with it. It really didn't feel much different than it did when I went into labor naturally with Micah after my water breaking. At about 10 or 11(I already can't remember!) they checked me and I was at a 6 and they went ahead and gave me my epidural. After that, I rested comfortably and even took a nap. I assumed since I was only at a six that it would later in the afternoon/early evening before I'd start pushing. So we had planned to decide on the middle name for either the girl or the boy later in the afternoon. Well, around 2 they came back in and checked me and said well, you're ready to push! I was shocked and didn't feel prepared but I was ready to do this! I thought it would be easier since Micah was born with one arm by his head and kinda got stuck. They had to use the suction with him, so I thought this one would be easier and quicker. Well, I started pushing around 2:15 and things were going well, I could tell it was already quicker than Micah was, but unfortunately I was much more numb from the epidural and couldn't feel A THING! Around 2:30 they decided to use the suction again because baby's heart rate was dropping whenever I would push. After using the suction for a little while, she was finally born at 2:49pm. Only 3 min. after Micah was, he was 2:46pm. When they said she was a "girl baby", I was so shocked, on the video I said "GIRLLLLLLLLLLLLL" in such a weird way. I was just so surprised and excited and couldn't believe it. When they handed her to me, I checked to make sure they weren't kidding. Then they took her and cleaned her off and worked on me. After about 30 min. I got to nurse her and she did so well, ate for an hour! Anyway, the rest of the details are not as important but I just loved this birth experience. I have such fond memories of both of my kids being born and am so thankful that the Lord has let me experience this miracle twice. I never understood how I would love another child the way I love Micah but it sure has happened and grows stronger every day, the more I get to know Kylie. Oh and by the way, it took us another 45 min. or so to decide on Kylie's middle name, Mae after having her. There's no family name or anything with the first or the middle, but we liked how it sounded similar to "Micah Joe" in syllables since that's what we call Micah. Well, I will try to post more pics soon!
