haircut frenzy

So, I got my haircut and styled yesterday and got about 3 1/2 inches cut off! I was so ready for something different. So, here it is. Funny thing about this though. Neil wanted me to send him a text pic of my new haircut at work. So I took a pic of myself and sent it to him. I put a caption under the pic that said "love you!" He called me about 10 min. later and said he didn't get the pic. So, I checked the number I sent it to and sure enough, I sent it to the wrong number! So, some random person got a pic of me that said "love you"! Well, that was about noon and I didn't hear anything all day so I figured I was safe but then I got a text from that number later on last night. It was blank... but then they called me too! I didn't answer but sent back another text that said, sorry, I sent that pic to the wrong number earlier, please ignore! I haven't heard anything since but this is freaky!

Roses

These are my beautiful yellow roses I have grown in my backyard.... This is the first time I have really grown any flowers that weren't more of a plant with a flower on it. My grandma gave me this bush and it's turned out beautiful so far. The first time it budded, a bunny came and ate all three buds right off! I was so mad because I had been watching them and couldn't wait until they bloomed and they were about too when the bunny got hungry. I've been using baby powder and putting human hair on it whenever I can to keep the bunny away and so far it's been working. I just love how God made flowers, it feels so good to grow something and be able to watch it grow. I am seriously considering an herb garden for next year... we'll see how that goes!

Serena came to visit

This is one of my best friends from college, Serena. She lives in Toledo, OH so I don't get to see her much. The last time I saw her was over a year ago! She came to visit me two weekends ago while Neil was gone on a guys fishing/golfing trip. It was great to see her. We went out to dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy, went to church, and then went swimming in our neighborhood pool. Then she had to leave Monday morning. We had a good time catching up though and we vowed it wouldn't be this long again until we saw each other again!

Our vacation details

Two weeks ago we did a hodge-podge kind of vacation with Neil's fam. They all came down on a Thursday evening and spent the night. Friday morning we got up and went to Kings Island for the day. It was really hot, 90 degrees! We spent most of the afternoon in the water park. Micah got to go on the lazy river and actually fell asleep while on the intertube with me. Then we did some kiddie rides for Kane(our 5 year old nephew) later in the evening and then around 8pm finally got to do a couple adult rides. We went on Son of Beast and Adventure Express, that was all we had time for. We talked Neil's mom into going on Son of Beast even though it's SO rickity, and we think she had fun but just won't admit it. :)
Saturday we had planned on swimming at our neighborhood pool because Kane is really enjoying swimming this year. He's taking swim lessons and is getting more confident in the water. However, it rained all day on Saturday so we stayed in and watched 4 movies. It did clear up around 7pm so after dinner went went swimming for about 20 minutes or so.
Sunday we went to church and then Kane wanted to swim again. After we swam for about an hour we came back to the house, packed up and left for Illinois. We spent Sunday evening-Thursday there. We stayed at Neil's mom's house and did some other fun things. Neil and Jesse golfed one morning while the girls went shopping. We went to the movies and of course couldn't all agree on one so we split up and went to three! Kane, Jesse, and I saw Kung Fu Panda which was cute, Neil and Cindy saw the new Indiana Jones, and Marisa and Rodger saw Ironman. The babies went to relatives in town for a couple of hours.
Wednesday of that week we went to St. Louis to the Zoo. We spent the whole day there, it was a lot of fun and not as hot as Kings Island. We ate the Old Spaghetti Factory and then left for home.
During the week Kane said two funny things. The first one was in the car on our way to IL, he rode with us. He was asleep and I saw a turtle in the middle of the road and was able to avoid it. When he woke up, I decided to tell him about it. Here's the conversation:
Me: Kane, guess what I just saw in the middle of the road?
Kane: What?
Me: Guess!
Kane: A deer
Me: No, smaller
Kane: A goat
Me: no..., it's really slow
Kane: ... a sloth!
Me:(laughing) No, not a sloth, it's smaller and green
Kane: (thinks for a minute) Aunt Amy, I don't know what it is!
Me: Okay, finish this phrase: "Teenage Mutant Ninja _________"
Kane: Turtles!!!
Me: Right! Good job!
Kane: (thinks for a minute) But how did a teenage mutant ninja turtle get in the road?!!!!

Next funny thing... At the zoo we were looking at the otters and they were swimming and having fun and gliding through the water on their backs.
Kane: "God shoulda made me a otter!"

We didn't really get that great of pictures because we were also video-taping so we got most of his reaction on the video camera. It was pretty funny though. All in all, he did really well!

Mother's Day

I know, I know, I'm about a month late getting this up. This the card Micah(Neil) got me for Mother's Day. It was huge, bigger than him! It made me cry what Micah(Neil) wrote in there. Neil got me a pedicure for Mother's Day and I went to get it done with Neil's sis and mom. That was the Friday before and then on Sunday, the actual day, Neil took me out to lunch at Amore's (a really good pizza place) and then we rented a couple of chick-flicks. It was a very fun day and I felt very honored.
